JENNIFER FISHER

Advocate and Conscious Creative Jennifer Fisher, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, is a government affairs professional and public engagement expert with 15+ years of experience in social impact, advocacy, strategic partnerships and creative economies.

Across her career, Jennifer has led and managed legislative campaigns which garnered support of Presidential Administrations, U.S. Congress, and public and private stakeholders. Beginning her journey on Capitol Hill and later as a healthcare lobbyist, she ushered legislation into law and led federal funding initiatives to address access to health care and wellness opportunities in communities of color. Jennifer was recently named a Top Lobbyist by The Hill Newspaper and recognized as a National 40 under 40 Leader in Minority Health. Jennifer’s passion for advocacy became the driving force for her advisory work in enhancing creative communities through political action.

Jennifer is a creative at heart. Throughout her career, she never missed an opportunity to provide pathways for underrepresented creatives. In 2010 she started an online publication to promote the voices of emerging fashion brands in the Beltway, which included partnerships with Fashion Washington of Washington Post, Marie Claire and Emporio Armani. She later evolved her platform to focus on U.S. policies affecting the fashion industry and served on the advisory board of the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce (GWFCC) as the volunteer Director of Advocacy where she organized and led advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill for emerging fashion designers. Their voice before Congress and the Obama Administration led to the establishment of the first Fashion Congressional Caucus led by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and former Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA) which provided a platform for the fashion industry on Capitol Hill. Shortly thereafter, Jennifer served on the advisory board of the DC Fashion Foundation as the Director of External Affairs where she was a member of the development team to establish DC’s first business incubator for fashion designers in partnership with Macy’s. There she represented the incubator before community stakeholders and created partnerships with the Department of State’s African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program and the International Trade Administration to promote President Obama’s Made in the USA initiative.

Jennifer’s efforts have led to the recent development of the Fisher Clay Group, a boutique consultancy dedicated to helping creatives navigate the political landscape and use their voice to influence change. Through her firm, Jennifer advises fashion and beauty brands committed to sustainability, equality and justice. Jennifer’s volunteer work includes serving as First Lady of Divine Love Baptist Church where she is empowered to lead a congregation dedicated to building stronger communities through greater access to health and wellness, financial literacy, relief for veterans and civic engagement.

Jennifer has a J.D. from The Catholic University of America, M.A. in Public Policy from Trinity College and a B.A. from Oglethorpe University. She currently resides in Washington, DC with her husband Leroy Clay, III.
